In Search of Anywhere

PaulChansin, Nate, Matt and I chatted for a couple of hours last night about our upcoming mission adventure to Honduras. Adventure seems to be an appropriate descriptor. There are many unknowns, a few concerns, and several things for which our preconceived notions may be completely erroneous.

We do know that there are stories to be told. I expect that Chansin, Nate, and Matt will carry the majority of the load when it comes to gathering notes, converting those notes to text, and tying images to copy. Some of those stories will appear here (we hope). Some of the stories may be reserved for future print production projects associated with the KidSake Foundation. My particular challenge is to capture these three creative students doing journalistic activity...some of which may be beyond the comfort zone of most journalists. But from all of that, there will be adventure and we expect to learn and grow from that adventure.

Paul & Team!
I'm excited to share this experience with you all through this blog. I will pray daily for God's leadership while in Honduras. I pray for good travel, health and strength to meet the daily demands. May you be open and sensitive to opportunities that are divine appointments! Wish I were going with you!!!

As a journalist, and a veteran of three foreign mission trips, I can relate. On my first such trip, to Nicaragua in January 2003, I had committed to write a first-person series about the trip in return for not having to use X number of vacation days. After that, the newspaper sold, and I wasn't able to make the same trade with the new owners, but I got such positive response from the first series that I've written a similar first-person series after each of my two trips to Kenya. All have been well-received, and people in the community whom I don't even know will sometimes ask me when I'm going on a trip again.

I will pray for your work in Honduras, and hope your time is productive and rewarding. Have fun!
