The BMI Foundation is now accepting applications for the Nashville Songwriting Scholarship, an annual competition supporting aspiring country music artists nationwide. The contest is open to enrolled college students between the ages of 17 and 24, and the winner will be awarded a $5,000 scholarship for the best original song in any of the following genres: Americana, blues, bluegrass, contemporary Christian, country, folk, and roots. Applications must be submitted online no later than Feb. 1, 2017 at 11:59 pm EST.
