Panel Discussion: The Boys Who Made the Noise: Veteran Musicians Remember RCA Studio B
This panel in the Museum’s Ford Theater will conclude a year-long series celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of Historic RCA Studio B, Music City’s oldest surviving recording studio. A birthplace of the Nashville Sound, the studio yielded more than a thousand hit records between its 1957 opening and its last RCA session twenty years later. Panelists include four first-call session players whose contributions were essential to Studio B’s reputation as a hit factory: Country Music Hall of Fame Member and ace guitarist Harold Bradley, rhythm guitar stalwart Ray Edenton, bass player extraordinaire Bob Moore, and piano master Hargus “Pig” Robbins. Hosted by Museum Senior Historian John Rumble, these veterans will share insights about the recording process and the singers, producers, and engineers they teamed with in building Nashville’s fame as Music City U.S.A. Following the program, the panelists will sign autographs in the Museum Store. Included with Museum admission. Free to Museum members.
Saturday, November 10 3:00 p.m.
Interview and Performance: Jason Coleman and Meagan Taylor
Jason Coleman, pianist and grandson of Country Music Hall of Fame member Floyd Cramer, and Meagan Taylor, guitarist and great-niece of Hall of Famer Chet Atkins, recently recorded an album together at Historic RCA Studio B. Titled Revival, the record references their familial musical traditions and the legendary studio that housed the session. In this program, Coleman and Taylor will perform a few songs with their band, discuss their heritage, and comment on the experience of recording in a renowned studio. Following the program, Coleman and Taylor will sign autographs in the Museum Store. Included with Museum admission. Free to Museum members.
