Julie Nguyen, pharmacy student at Belmont University<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n

Belmont pharmacy student, Julie Nguyen, was selected as one of two inaugural students from a national pool of graduate and undergraduate applicants for the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society TIGER Initiative<\/a> Scholars Internship Program. Via the Scholars Workgroup, HIMSS launched the program in June to mentor and help advance the inter-professional informatics focused healthcare workforce.<\/p>\n

The spirit of TIGER is to maximize the integration of technology and informatics into seamless practice, education, research and resource development. During this internship, Ngueyn will be working closely with TIGER\u2019s global network represented by 29 countries worldwide via the International Task Force<\/a>, Scholars Workgroup<\/a>, and Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) Workgroup<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The program\u2019s goal is to help Nguyen grow her healthcare informatics knowledge and skills through multiple activities that include a personalized mentorship experience, coaching, engagement with HIMSS TIGER staff, virtual learning and the opportunity to serve as a program assistant at the HIMSS20 Global Conference & Exhibition<\/a> in Orlando, Florida in March 2020.<\/p>\n

Nguyen said she is excited to work with the HIMSS TIGER Initiative Scholars Internship Program. \u201cI think pharmacy informatics is a great field to be in, and I\u2019m so thrilled to develop my skills during the internship. I\u2019m grateful for this very unique opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nguyen\u2019s healthcare informatics mentor in the College of Pharmacy is Associate Professor Anthony Blash, Pharm.D., BCompSc, CPHIMS. Dr. Blash has trained numerous students who have become HIMMS certified at the CAHIMS level.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
