Hosted by Senior Policy Adviser at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Susan Dentzer, the Hall of Fame seeks to recognize and honor the pioneers and current leaders who\u00a0have formed Tennessee\u2019s health and health care community and encourage future generations of health care professionals.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Created by Belmont University and Belmont\u2019s McWhorter Society with the support of the Nashville Health Care Council, a Founding Partner, the event honored the Hall of Fame\u2019s inaugural inductees which included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Dr. Thomas F. Frist, Jr.<\/em>: Physician and Flight Surgeon in U.S. Air Force, Co-Founder, Past Chairman and CEO of Hospital Corporation of America, Co-Founder of China Healthcare, Corporation, Member of National Healthcare Hall of Fame<\/li>\n<li><em>Dr. Thomas Frist, Sr.<\/em>: Cardiologist and Internist, Founder of Park View Hospital, Co-Founder of Hospital Corporation of America<\/li>\n<li><em>Dr. Ernest William Goodpasture<\/em>: Pathologist and Physician, Past Dean of Vanderbilt School of Medicine, Past Director of Armed Forces Institute of Pathology<\/li>\n<li><em>Jack C. Massey<\/em>: Co-Founder of Hospital Corporation of America, Founder and Past Board Member of Baptist Hospital<\/li>\n<li><em>Clayton McWhorter<\/em>: Pharmacist and Co-Founder of HealthTrust and Clayton Associates, Past President and CEO of Hospital Corporation of America, Lifetime Achievement Award from Federation of American Health Systems Recipient<\/li>\n<li><em>Dr. David Satcher<\/em>: 16<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0U.S. Surgeon General, Past Director of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Past President of Meharry Medical College and Morehouse School of Medicine<\/li>\n<li><em>Dr. Mildred T. Stahlman<\/em>: Pediatrician and Pathologist, Founder of the country\u2019s first modern neonatology intensive care unit, Pioneered the use of respiratory therapy on infants with damaged lungs, Past President of the American Pediatric Society, Distinguished Alumna of Vanderbilt University School of Medicine<\/li>\n<li><em>Danny Thomas<\/em>: Founder of St. Jude Children\u2019s Research Hospital and ALSAC<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/i2.wp.com\/news.belmont.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/health-care-hall-of-fame-2015-289-X3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-14646\" src=\"http:\/\/i2.wp.com\/news.belmont.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/health-care-hall-of-fame-2015-289-X3.jpg?resize=300%2C200\" alt=\"Marlo Thomas\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>In a video acceptance video done on behalf of her father, Marlo Thomas said her family was incredibly touched to have Danny\u00a0included in the Hall of Fame\u2019s inaugural class.
