{"id":3907,"date":"2015-08-21T13:48:51","date_gmt":"2015-08-21T19:48:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/forum.belmont.edu\/health\/?p=3907"},"modified":"2015-09-04T14:32:30","modified_gmt":"2015-09-04T20:32:30","slug":"pharmacy-student-travels-to-brazil-with-womens-basketball-team","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forum.belmont.edu\/health\/2015\/08\/21\/pharmacy-student-travels-to-brazil-with-womens-basketball-team\/","title":{"rendered":"Pharmacy student travels to Brazil with Women&#8217;s Basketball Team"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/forum.belmont.edu\/health\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/CohlmeyerBBall.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-3908\" src=\"http:\/\/forum.belmont.edu\/health\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/CohlmeyerBBall-300x220.jpg\" alt=\"CohlmeyerBBall\" width=\"300\" height=\"220\" srcset=\"https:\/\/forum.belmont.edu\/health\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/CohlmeyerBBall-300x220.jpg 300w, https:\/\/forum.belmont.edu\/health\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/CohlmeyerBBall.jpg 410w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Natalie Cohlmeyer, a current PharmD student and member of Belmont University&#8217;s women&#8217;s basketball team from Evansville, Indiana, traveled with her teammates this summer to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil as part of a sports evangelism trip.\u00a0 The team partnered with Brentwood Baptist Church for the endeavor, playing games at the 2016 Olympic basketball venue against three different teams including a Brazilian national team in the Bruins&#8217; age group.\u00a0 The team won each contest handily.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Going into it, I didn&#8217;t really know what to expect,&#8221; said Cohlmeyer.\u00a0 &#8220;We went down to change those kids&#8217; lives and it ended up changing ours.&#8221;<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>About 100 kids from the schools they had visited during the previous week traveled about two hours via a public bus to watch one of their games.\u00a0 &#8220;Those kids spent all their pocket change to come see us play,&#8221; said Cohlmeyer. &#8220;They were cheering for us in Portuguese and doing the wave throughout the entire game. You want to talk about a moving experience.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>On the last day of the 10-day trip, the team enjoyed some sightseeing, visiting Copacabana Beach, the Christ the Redeemer statue atop Mt.
