{"id":3839,"date":"2015-07-17T10:59:37","date_gmt":"2015-07-17T16:59:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/forum.belmont.edu\/health\/?p=3839"},"modified":"2015-07-27T09:12:42","modified_gmt":"2015-07-27T15:12:42","slug":"pharmacy-faculty-and-staff-present-at-association-of-colleges-of-pharmacy-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forum.belmont.edu\/health\/2015\/07\/17\/pharmacy-faculty-and-staff-present-at-association-of-colleges-of-pharmacy-meeting\/","title":{"rendered":"Pharmacy Faculty and Staff Present at Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/forum.belmont.edu\/health\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/AACP-2015-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-3841 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/forum.belmont.edu\/health\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/AACP-2015-2-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"AACP-2015-2\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>Sixteen Belmont faculty and staff members attended and contributed to the 2015 American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) joint meeting with the Association of Faculties of Pharmacy of Canada, recently held in National Harbor, Maryland.<\/p>\n<p>Due to changes in the pharmacy market and pharmacy practice act and the number of new schools, this year\u2019s conference, attended by approximately 2,000 people, was particularly active. <!--more-->The following College of Pharmacy faculty and staff members presented and served in leadership roles:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dr. Ashton Beggs, Assistant Professor \u2013\u00a0Served as a Delegate in\u00a0the House of Delegates for the College and co-presented a poster titled\u00a0\u201dComparison of student grades on top 300 drugs assessments based on pharmacy\u00a0experience\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Dr. Leela Kodali, Assistant Professor \u2013 \u00a0Co-presented a poster titled \u201cComparison of student grades on top 300 drugs assessments based on pharmacy\u00a0experience\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Dr. Hope Campbell, Assistant Professor \u2013\u00a0Served as Chair\u00a0of Minority SIG, conducting a business session and completing educational programming<\/li>\n<li>Dr. Cathy Ficzere, Associate Professor and Director of Drug Information Center \u2013 Attended the first time as a Chair and co-presented a poster in\u00a0the\u00a0Research\/Education session titled \u201cComparison of reading levels of\u00a0pharmacy students and\u00a0reading level of primary literature\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Dr. Tracy Frame, Assistant Professor \u2013 A\u00a0New Investigator award winner for $10,000 for research on a new method to teach patients about diabetes,<b>\u00a0<\/b>presented an invited poster titled\u00a0\u201dImpact of using team-based learning in patient education on diabetes outcomes\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Dr. Angela Hagan, Assistant Professor \u2013 Served as Secretary for Minority Faculty SIG and assisted in the SIG business meeting, and co-presented a poster in\u00a0the Research\/Education session titled \u201cComparison of reading levels of\u00a0pharmacy students and\u00a0reading level of primary literature\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Dr. Phil Johnston, Professor and Dean \u2013\u00a0Served in the House of Delegates\u00a0and Council of Deans<\/li>\n<li>Dr. Genevieve Ness, Assistant Professor and Associate Director of Drug Information Center \u2013 Co-presented poster titled \u201cInstructing\u00a0student pharmacists to analyze direct to consumer advertisements\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Dr. Andrew Webster, Professor and Chair \u2013\u00a0Served on the AACP Policy\u00a0and Bylaws Committee\u00a0and Development Committee and the Strategy Committee for\u00a0the Chemistry Section<\/li>\n<li>Dr. Scott Weston, Associate Dean \u2013\u00a0Served as Chair of\u00a0the Curriculum SIG with business session responsibility, educational programming and planning responsibility<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other attendees included Dr. Leigh Ann Bynum, Dr. Angela Clauson, Dr. Edgar Diaz-Cruz, who nominated a student Walmart Scholar who went on to win, Dr. Amy Ham, Bill Nichols and Dr. Kristy Wahaib.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sixteen Belmont faculty and staff members attended and contributed to the 2015 American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) joint meeting with the Association of Faculties of Pharmacy of Canada, recently held in National Harbor, Maryland.
