{"id":3149,"date":"2014-07-31T15:08:24","date_gmt":"2014-07-31T21:08:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/forum.belmont.edu\/health\/?p=3149"},"modified":"2014-07-31T15:08:24","modified_gmt":"2014-07-31T21:08:24","slug":"pharmacy-faculty-present-at-national-aacp-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forum.belmont.edu\/health\/2014\/07\/31\/pharmacy-faculty-present-at-national-aacp-meeting\/","title":{"rendered":"Pharmacy Faculty present at national AACP Meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/forum.belmont.edu\/health\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/BynumSmall.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-655\" src=\"http:\/\/forum.belmont.edu\/health\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/BynumSmall.jpg\" alt=\"BynumSmall\" width=\"81\" height=\"116\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/forum.belmont.edu\/health\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/HaganSmall.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-735\" src=\"http:\/\/forum.belmont.edu\/health\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/HaganSmall.jpg\" alt=\"HaganSmall\" width=\"81\" height=\"116\" \/><\/a><\/strong>Se<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3150\" src=\"http:\/\/forum.belmont.edu\/health\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/WestonSmall.jpg\" alt=\"WestonSmall\" width=\"81\" height=\"116\" \/>veral faculty members from the College of Pharmacy made presentations at the annual meeting of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) held in Grapevine, Texas earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Leigh Ann Bynum and Dr. Angela Hagan were co-presenters for a session entitled \u201cCurricular Approaches to Active Learning\u201d, which demonstrated different ways in which active learning techniques have been incorporated into pharmacy curricula.\u00a0 Dr. Bynum and Dr. Hagan focused on the use of patient simulation technology in the classroom.\u00a0 Dr. Scott Weston moderated the session which included presentations from two other pharmacy schools.\u00a0 Dr. Weston is the incoming Chair of the AACP Curriculum special interest group and was recently appointed to the Editorial Review Board for the AACP Center for the Advancement of Pharmacy Education (CAPE).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/forum.belmont.edu\/health\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/CampbellSmall.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1385\" src=\"http:\/\/forum.belmont.edu\/health\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/CampbellSmall.jpg\" alt=\"CampbellSmall\" width=\"81\" height=\"116\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/forum.belmont.edu\/health\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/BeggsSmall2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2515\" src=\"http:\/\/forum.belmont.edu\/health\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/BeggsSmall2.jpg\" alt=\"BeggsSmall2\" width=\"81\" height=\"116\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/forum.belmont.edu\/health\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/SpinelliSmall.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3151\" src=\"http:\/\/forum.belmont.edu\/health\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/SpinelliSmall.jpg\" alt=\"SpinelliSmall\" width=\"81\" height=\"116\" \/><\/a>Dr. Hagan also joined with Dr. Hope Campbell to speak at a session on \u201cReviving the Meaning and Perceptions of Being a Minority Faculty Member\u201d.\u00a0 In addition, Drs. Hagan and Campbell presented a poster entitled \u201cWhere&#8217;s the Minority Representation? State of Affairs in Academic Pharmacy\u201d.\u00a0 Dr. Campbell is the incoming Chair of the AACP Minority Faculty special interest group.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Ashton Beggs presented a poster titled \u201cStudent Perceptions of Inter-Professional Collaboration through Geriatric Case Training\u201d.\u00a0 This poster was a report prepared by Dr. Beggs, who worked with faculty in the Meharry Consortium Geriatric Education Center, to produce a day long training session for students in nursing, social work, physical therapy, dietetics, medicine and pharmacy.\u00a0 Dr. Beggs also made a poster presentation with Dr. Alisa Spinelli on \u201cStudent Preference for Traditional vs. Non-Traditional Presentation Modalities\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Several faculty members from the College of Pharmacy made presentations at the annual meeting of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) held in Grapevine, Texas earlier this week.
