This week’s Belmont FYI Feature Profile of the Week is Marieta Velikova, economics and international business professor in the College of Business. Originally from Russia, Marieta is in her first year at Belmont and was nominated for the first guiding principle, “Show We Care.”
Marieta says her colleagues have welcomed her to Belmont with care and encouragement. “I have not seen my family in two years, so the warm environment at Belmont is so helpful,” she said. “When you are in a caring environment, you want to give back.”
Marieta shows she cares because of the way her parents raised her, she says. “My parents taught me to do everything 100 percent and put my heart into everything I do,” she said. “When I was a student, I received inspiration when professors cared. I want my students to do their best and not waste what they’ve been given by God.”
