The 2005 Health Fair is today, Friday, March 18, from 7:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in the BSLC Rec Gym. There will be vendors, food, fitness testing, t-shirts, massages and prizes.
The Inaugural Dance Minor Recitals will be Sunday, March 20 at 2:00 p.m. in the Massey Concert Hall.
On behalf of Dr. Merrie King, Montessori Program Director, and the Department of Education, the Belmont Community is invited to attend an Open House for the Montessori Teacher Education Program on Monday, March 21 from 4:00-5:00 p.m. in Room 103, Wheeler Building. Come view the new Montessori materials and curriculum lab and meet the Montessori faculty! Belmont’s Montessori Teacher Education program, which offers Montessori certification in early childhood education (for ages 2 ½-6) along with college credit that can be applied toward an undergraduate degree through the University College or a graduate degree (Master of Arts in Teaching), is slated to begin in June 2005. Chorale will perform on Monday, March 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Belmont Heights Baptist Church.
A Lenten Worship Service for faculty and staff will be held Wednesday, March 23 at 10:00 a.m. in the Belmont Little Theatre. Please join fellow faculty and staff for a half-hour Holy Week service of prayers, Scripture and hymns, followed by refreshments and a time of fellowship. This event is a collaboration by members of the theatre department, school of music, and the office of spiritual development.
Dr. Karen Wieckert, Associate Professor of ISM, will present a talk entitled, “The Pipeline for Women in Computing” as a part of Women’s History Month on Wednesday, March 23 at 10:00 a.m. in MBC 100.
Easter Break is March 24-25. Campus offices will be closed in observance of the Good Friday holiday.
The Faculty Concert Series presents Keith Moore, Tom Studebaker and Jennifer Coleman (Classical Vocalists) on Monday, March 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the Belmont Mansion.
Hazel O’Leary, President of Fisk University and former U.S. Energy Secretary will give the keynote address during the Women’s History Month events on march 31 at 5:30 p.m. in the Massey Boardroom.

Belmont and the YMCA Hispanic Achievers Program will host a Latin Music Street Event for Nashville: “Musica Caliente de Nashville” -Nashville’s Latin Music Street Fair, on Saturday, April 23 from 11:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. This street fair, held on Belmont’s central campus, will feature local Latin musicians, folkloric dancers, mariachi bands, piñatas, salsa dance lessons, kid’s activities, a salsa recipe and salsa dance contest, and local Spanish cooking.
