Congratulations
Congratulations to Benita Walker for achieving the Certified Professional Secretary award. Benita recently took two 6-8 hour tests to achieve this honor. She is also the chairman of an IAAP committee, which is the International Association of Administrative Professionals. Benita works in the office of University Advancement.
Professor and Chair of the Social Work Department Debbie Simpler was selected to attend the NASW Congress in Washington, D.C., March 17-18. A select few leaders in the social work profession were invited to attend this event, which is designed to further the goals of the social work profession. Simpler was also recently elected treasurer of The Association of Baccalaureate Social Work Program Directors.
Congratulations to Dr. Lorraina Scholten, assistant professor in the department of Social Work, for her invitation to a special summer session of the Oxford Round Table. This invitation only event will address issues pertaining to successful aging and will take place at St. Anne’s College of the University of Oxford in England.
Congratulations to COMPANY, directed by Jim Kimmel, who performed for the American Choral Directors Association on February 3. COMPANY was one of two show groups selected nationwide to perform at this national conference. ACDA is the world’s largest professional organization of choral directors and the convention is designed to bring together outstanding choral ensembles in concert.
Dr. Cathy Hinton, Associate Professor of Physical Therapy, has been invited to attend the spring session of the Oxford Round Table, held March 13-18 at the University of Oxford in England. Only 35 individuals from across the globe are chosen to attend. This spring’s Oxford Round Table session is devoted to the topic of “Disabilities and Exceptionalities: Identification, Response and Rehabilitation.”
