FOX News Anchor/Correspondent to Speak at Belmont

wilson.JPGFOX News Channel correspondent Brian Wilson will speak at Belmont University Monday, February 23, as part of the university's ongoing New Century Journalism Speakers Series.

The event is free and open to the public and the news media. Journalists, educators and students are invited and encouraged to attend. Wilson is scheduled to speak at 10 a.m. in the Neely auditorium.

"As journalists and educators we have an obligation to teach the next generation of journalists right from wrong and that's what Belmont's New Century Journalism Program strives to do," said Dr. Sybril Bennett, executive director of the New Century Journalism program. "Brian Wilson is a national correspondent who is committed to performing his duties ethically, accurately, and responsibly."

Wilson has covered numerous breaking news events for FOX News, including the Monica Lewinsky scandal, the disputed 2000 presidential election, the aftermath at the Pentagon of the September 11 terrorist attacks, and the 23-day Washington, D.C.-area sniper attack story. Wilson covered the Clinton White House from 1997-99.

Before joining to joining the FOX News Channel, Wilson was co-anchor of FOX Morning News on WTTG-TV, in Washington, D.C, for six years. He has received numerous awards over the years for investigative reporting. In 1991, he was elected by his colleagues to serve as chairman of the 2,500-member Capitol Hill Radio/ TV Correspondent's Association. In 1997, Wilson earned a Master's degree in print journalism from American University, where he also served as an adjunct professor in the School of Communications.

Belmont University's New Century Journalism program is designed to prepare students to work in newsrooms across broadcast, print and online media platforms.
