Brad Paisley Receives Distinguished Alumni Award
Country music superstar Brad Paisley received Belmont University's Distinguished Alumni Award during Homecoming festivities Nov. 22. Paisley, who graduated from Belmont in 1995 with a Bachelor of Business Administration, majored in music business at Belmont's Mike Curb School of Music Business.
The Distinguished Alumni Award was presented by Belmont University President Dr. Robert Fisher at the President's Alumni Homecoming Dinner, held in the Maddox Grand Atrium at Belmont.
Past recipients of the Distinguished Alumni Award from Belmont University include 1987 Belmont graduate and country music star Trisha Yearwood, who received the award in 1995.
Paisley is a three-time CMA award winning artist and the youngest member of the Grand Ole Opry. His first two albums were certified Platinum on the strength of such hits as "He Didn't Have to Be," "We Danced," and "I'm Gonna Miss Her." His current Arista Nashville album, Mud on the Tires, was released on July 22 and debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart and No. 8 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart, fueled by the radio and video hit "Celebrity." An acclaimed songwriter, guitarist, and entertainer with three No. 1 singles and multiple Grammy Award nominations to his credit, Paisley has consistently demonstrated a gift for music that blends both humor and heart.
