Bruins Honored by Governor Bredesen

The Belmont University Bruins Men’s Basketball and Men’s Tennis teams were honored by Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen Tuesday. Both teams and their coaches, along with Belmont President Robert Fisher, were invited to the Tennessee State Capitol to be recognized for their completion of extraordinary seasons.


The Bruins Men’s Basketball team won the 2006 Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament and became the first Bruin program in school history to advance to the NCAA Tournament.

The Bruins Men’s Tennis team captured their first Atlantic Sun Conference title in 2006 and earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
