Belmont Raises Fundraising Campaign Goal to $250 Million

Belmont University will raise its Keeping the Promise capital campaign goal to $250 million, now that the university has reached its initial $170 million goal, President Dr. Robert Fisher announced yesterday. The campaign's goal is being raised in order to help the university fulfill its vision for 2010, said Dr. Bo Thomas, vice president for university advancement. "The momentum is great for Belmont right now, and we are eager to continue to work with our many friends who want to partner with us in this exciting journey."

Belmont celebrated reaching its initial the $170 million "Keeping the Promise" capital campaign fund-raising goal with a dinner Tuesday night (April 4) honoring donors who gave $5,000 or more, and a faculty/staff luncheon on Wednesday (April 5). The university raised a total of $173,098,886 for the Keeping the Promise campaign through the end of 2005, funds that have gone for a number of new projects on campus including construction of the Curb Event Center, Maddox Grand Atrium, Beaman Student Life Center, Thrailkill Residence Hall, and the Inman Center for Health Sciences, as well as a variety of student scholarships and new and expanded academic programs.

Belmont University's Vision Statement 2010 establishes several goals including growing the university's enrollment to a total of 5,000 students, with 4,200-4,400 undergraduates and 600-800 graduate students, and a continuation of the unversity's aggressive efforts to upgrade campus facilities. Through 2010, driven by the university's institutional master-plan, newconstruction will include Phase II of the Health Sciences Center (with parking), an additional residence hall (with parking), a theater, a new academic building (with parking), athletic fields, renovated dining hall, restoratio of the campus bell tower and historic Belmont Mansion, an outdoor plaza, and possibly renovations that would add floors to existing space and remodel church property.
