Moser Publishes New Book on Music Copyright Law

moserbookcover.jpgMoser on Music Copyright, a new in-depth analysis of copyright law and its application to the music industry by David Moser, Associate Professor in the Mike Curb College of Entertainment & Music Business at Belmont University, has been published by ArtistPro/Thomson Course Technology. Moser on Music Copyright provides musicians, songwriters, and others involved in the music industry with a thorough understanding of copyright law. Understanding copyright law is particularly relevant today, as Internet file sharing and other new ways of distributing music have made front-page news headlines.

Moser on Music Copyright covers recent copyright controversies including court decisions against file sharing companies such as Napster, Grokster, and Kazaa as well as the RIAA file sharing lawsuits against individuals.

moser.jpgMoser, who teaches courses in intellectual property, legal issues in the music industry, music publishing and multimedia law, is recognized as one of the foremost authorities on music and entertainment copyright law. The book is a thorough updating of Moser's previous book, Music Copyright for the New Millennum, published in 2002.

”When I started teaching copyright law, I realized that there were no books focused specifically on the application of copyright to music," Moser said. "This book fills that void and provides detailed explanations and examples of copyright law’s application to music."

Moser on Music Copyright is already used as a textbook by institutions such as Fordham University, University of Miami, New York University, Northeastern University and UCLA, and is available for purchase at retail and online booksellers.

The Mike Curb College of Entertainment & Music Business is one of the largest and most highly regarded music industry degree programs in the world.

In addition to teaching at Belmont, Moser, an attorney, practices in intellectual property and entertainment law representing such clients as record companies, music publishers, songwriters, recording artists, producers, managers and internet business. He also teaches an online copyright course at UCLA Extension School and recently spent three months studying intellectual property piracy in the Philippines as the recipient of a Fulbright Scholar Award. He operates a website on copyright issues at www.copyrightguru.com.
