Belmont "Tops Out" New Residence Hall
Belmont University celebrated the "topping out" of Thrailkill Hall, the university’s new $17 million residence hall, on Thursday, November 17, 2005. Thrailkill Hall will provide living space for 322 students and increase on-campus parking by 400 spaces. The residence hall is named in honor of Belmont’s past chairman Larry Thrailkill and his wife, Jan. Thrailkill served on the university’s Board of Trustees since 1980 and led the board as chairman during a period of rapid growth for the university.
With plans for continued student growth over subsequent years, Thrailkill Hall helps meet the university’s need for more residence capacity on campus. Belmont's enrollment has increased 45 percent since 2000. With a current enrollment of 4,300 students, Belmont is the second-largest private university and largest Christian university in Tennessee.
"Today we are thankful for all of the people who have helped us along the way and for those who had the vision for this new building," Belmont President Bob Fisher said.
RC Mathews Contractor of Nashville is constructing the new residence hall, which was designed by Everton Oglesby Architects of Nashville.
