Belmont's Ocean Way Nashville Studio Hires New Manager
The Ocean Way Nashville recording studio has announced a change in the management with the hiring of Glenda Cones as studio manager. Cones, who has been with the studio's parent company Belmont University for almost a decade, was formerly director of strategic programs for the Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business. "Ocean Way has always been committed to setting a new standard in the recording industry," Cones told Mix magazine. "I am honored to be a part of it and thrilled with the challenge of continuing to move that bar."
Ocean Way Nashville is housed in a Gothic Revival greystone church on famed Music Row that was built at the turn of the century. Clients over the years include George Strait, Matchbox Twenty, Harry Connick Jr., Faith Hill, The Mavericks, Willie Nelson, Train, YoYo Ma, Montgomery Gentry, Toby Keith, Juvenile, Mark Knopfler, Sheryl Crow, Amy Grant and Belmont University graduate and country music superstar Brad Paisley.
Ocean Way Nashville was honored with a TEC Award in October 2003 at the 19th Annual Technical Excellence and Creativity Awards, sponsored by Mix and the Mix Foundation for Excellence in Audio. the TEC creative award for record production was for work done at Ocean Way Nashville on Sheryl Crow's album C'mon C'mon. That same year, Ocean Way Nashville was named the Top Country Recording Studio by Billboard magazine for the fourth consecutive year.
