Music Industry Educators Association moves offices to Belmont

meiealogo.jpgThe Music and Entertainment Industry Educators Association, a nationally recognized leader in the field of educating students planning to enter the music and entertainment industries, has returned to its original home on the Belmont University campus. The MEIEA, which brings together educators and professionals with interests in furthering education in the music and entertainment industries, was founded at Belmont in 1979, and will be housed at the Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business.

The non-profit organization's mission is to bring together music industry practitioners with academics to establish standards of music and entertainment industry education. Although the MEIEA moved off campus years ago, the organization has maintained strong ties with the music business program at Belmont. Belmont faculty members have served on the MEIEA's executive board, and the university hosted the organization's national conference in 1993.

Rebecca Chappell, President of MEIEA, and Jeff Snyder, Vice President of MEIEA, signed a Memorandum of Understanding in mid-July with Jim Van Hook, Dean of the Curb College, and Belmont University Provost Dan McAlexander making Belmont University the home of the MEIEA's administrative office. As of August 1, the MEIEA's administrative headquarters will be housed at the Mike Curb College of Entertainment & Music Business on Belmont's campus.

Curb College Associate Dean Wesley Bulla says the MEIEA's return to Belmont will "help Belmont further establish itself as a center of music and entertainment industry education and will allow the MEIEA organization to further establish itself as the leading association of music and entertainment industry educators and educational resources."
