New Exhibition at Leu Features Appalachian Center for Craft

leucraft03.jpgBelmont University's Leu Art Gallery has opened a new exhibition, featuring works by the faculty and resident artists of the Appalachian Center for Craft. The Appalachian Center for Craft promotes excellence in American craft by teaching tradition and innovation in technique, concept and design. The Leu Art Gallery will celebrate the new exhibition with a reception 4-6 p.m., May 13.

leucraft01.jpgThe Center for Craft is located overlooking Center Hill Lake near Smithville, TN, and offers a variety of craft education programs. Craft Center faculty members and resident artists featured in the Leu exhibition, May 9 through July 8, produce their own work, teach classes, workshops, exhibit, are represented by numerous galleries, and have work in permanent collections across the U.S. and around the world.

"Many people in TN do not realize that we have a national treasure in our mist," says Victoria Boone, director of the Leu Art Gallery. "The Appalachian Center for Craft hosts a group of the best artists in the nation.

leucraft02.jpg"Clay, fiber, wood, glass, and metals have played an integral part in making everyday life easier. This exhibit will astound and delight viewers with a wide range of aesthetics and technical approaches by some of the best craft people in the field today," Boone said.
