Belmont Schedules Earth Day Activities
Belmont University has scheduled a number of activities related to Earth Day, sponsored by the O.N.E. Club and students taking an Environmental Studies class.
Energy Consumption at Belmont
April 18, 4-5 p.m.
Hitch Science Building Room 408
A lecture on the environment, Belmont's use of energy, and ways for the Belmont community to be more energy-conscious.
Commercial, Residential and College Construction Practices: Building Green
April 20, 5-6 p.m.
Hitch Science Building Room 408
An academic lecture on environmentally-sound building practices for construction of commercial, residential and university buildings. Dan Huitt from the U.S. Green Building Council will join students from Environmental Studies 1110 to discuss how current building practices affect the environment.
Recycling at Belmont: Past, Present, Future, and What You Can Do To Help
April 21, 4-5 p.m.
Hitch Science Building Room 408
A presentation of a brief overview of Belmont's past and present recycling efforts, and a comparison to other colleges and universities and to the greater Nashville/Davidson County region. The hour-long program will conclude with a "hands on" segment in which participants will collect recyclables from different areas of campus, making participants more aware of campus recycling locations in order to encourage more participation in campus recycling efforts.
Environment in Jeopardy: An Environmental Awareness Game
April 21, 7-8 p.m.
Bunch Library, Multimedia Hall, Second Floor
A game based on the popular Jeopardy game show with the focus on current environmental issues. With appearances by special guests.
Go Green: Earth Day 2005
April 22, 10 a.m.- 1 p.m.
On Earth Day, the O.N.E. Club presents a variety of Earth Day activities including the chance to sign an Earth Day pledge and learn about ways to be "green." The student environmental club also will unveil a new recycling sculpture made by the students in the club.
