Belmont seeks Greer for athletic fields - The Tennessean
Moving its athletic fields to Greer Stadium would allow Belmont University to create more open space on campus and make it more attractive to prospective students, the school's president said yesterday. The baseball, soccer and softball fields, tennis courts and track also would be available for public use if Belmont got the chance to lease Greer and its parking lots from Metro government and spend several million dollars renovating them, Bob Fisher said.
But a Metro official indicated that Belmont isn't the city's first choice for Greer, though a decision is still a couple of years off. ... Fisher said Belmont wants to be considered for Greer but won't "get into a fight" over it. "People want something the neighborhood can use," he said in a follow-up telephone interview.
