Cusic Quoted in Gospel Singer's Obit

Belmont University professor of music Don Cusic, a music industry historian, was quoted in the Biloxi, Miss., Sun-Herald story about the death of gospel music legend Jake Hess, a four-time Grammy Award winner.

Hess will be remembered as a foundation of the gospel music industry, said Don Cusic, a professor at Belmont University in Nashville and former record company executive.

"The problem with Southern Gospel is that it has never really changed, and the advantage with Southern Gospel is that it has never really changed," he said. "There is a foundation, something solid there, and people like Jake were part of it."
