MEDIA ALERT: Curb Café Set to Open

NASHVILLE, September 18, 2003 – The Curb Café, a collection of three restaurants and a live performance venue, opens Monday, Sept. 22, with live performances by Upper Room and Quarter to Nine, to celebrate the Belmont neighborhood's newest dining options and live entertainment venue.

The Curb Café is Nashville’s newest dining and performance venue for musicians of all genres, comedians, poets, and other dramatic performers. Adjacent to Belmont University’s new Curb Event Center, the Curb Café seats 178 people indoors and also has outdoor patio seating. Described as an intimate coffeehouse-style performance venue, the Café is designed for both the Belmont community and neighborhood friends. The cafe will be open seven days a week, serving three distinct menus - Sky Ranch Grill, Pete’s Arena Pizza, and Salsa Rico Fresh Mexican Grill – along with Starbucks® coffees.

The Curb Café opens with a brief celebration at 4 p.m., which will include the presentation of a major gift to Belmont University by the Sodexho company. Quarter to Nine performs at 6 p.m., and Upper Room at 7:30 p.m.

Belmont University President Bob Fisher says the Curb Café is not only a facility for Belmont students to enjoy food and live music. "It's also a place for the whole community to perform and try out new material. I like to call it the Open 'Mic' Curb Café."
