MEDIA ALERT: Belmont Unveils New Complex
NASHVILLE, Sept. 4, 2003 - Belmont University will soon cut the ribbon on the largest construction project in the university’s history. After nearly two years of construction, the Beaman Student Life Center, Curb Event Center and Maddox Grand Atrium will open to students, faculty, staff and the community on Monday, September 8, 2003.
Lee Beaman; Mike Curb; Robin Costa, executive trustee of the Maddox Foundation; the Belmont University Board of Trustees; students; faculty and staff, will all be in attendance at the ribbon-cutting ceremony. In addition to the outdoor ceremony, the grandchildren of Sally and Alvin G. Beaman will be the first to climb the rock-climbing wall. Following their climb, all in attendance will be invited to tour the facilities.
The Beaman Student Life Center is a multi-use space equipped with physical fitness facilities, meeting areas and wireless internet. Highlights include two racquetball courts, an intramural gymnasium and a rock-climbing wall.
The Curb Event Center, a 5,000-seat entertainment and athletic venue, will be home to the NCAA, Division I Belmont Bruin Basketball teams, as well as the site of the 2004 Atlantic Sun Men’s Basketball Tournament. In addition to sports, the facility will host concerts, tradeshows, speakers, award shows and other nationally and internationally televised events. Also located in the center are the Curb Café, a restaurant and entertainment venue for students and the community, and the Vince Gill Room, a penthouse meeting room offering outdoor rooftop dining.
The Maddox Grand Atrium, which will be used for receptions, dinners and concerts, connects the student life center and the event center.
