Russian Impressionism Art Exhibition Website Launched
There is now a website featuring a dozen images of works of art to be displayed at Belmont's Leu Art Gallery in September. You can view the images at http://forum.belmont.edu/artshow.
The Russian Impressionism exhibition, one of the largest exhibitions of 20th Century Russian Impressionist paintings in the southeast in the last five years, opens September 4 and continues through October 2 at the Leu Gallery. It will feature paintings from The Museum of Russian Art in Bloomington, Minnesota, the only museum of its kind in the United States devoted to Russian art from the 20th Century, and from the private collection of noted art collector Raymond E. Johnson, founder of The Museum of Russian Art.
Paintings shown on the website include Laughing Milkmaids, by Nikolai Nikolaevich Baskokov; Porch, by Boris Mikhailovich Lavrenko; Girl on Bridge, by Aleksandr Georgievich Gulyaev; Race, by Yuri Semenovich Rachev; Blossoming Orchard, by Mikhail Nikolaevich Dobronravov; The Morning, by Elena Mikhailovna Kostenko; Monastery, by Vladimir Nikolaivich Lemeshev; A Birch in Winter, by Nikolai Ivanovich Danshin; and Artist's Dacha, by Nina Pavlovna Volkova.
The exhibition will show a wide variety of Russian Impressionist paintings by various painters during the Soviet era. Russian Impressionism is sponsored by the Belmont University Alumni Association and Stanford Fine Art, a gallery in Nashville, Tenn. Some paintings will be made available for sale at the end of the month-long exhibit.
The Leu Gallery will be open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturdays 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Sundays from 2 to 5 p.m., during the exhibition. The Leu Gallery is accessible through the Lila D. Bunch Library.
