Almost There

Brian.JPG

School is almost done but baseball is hopefully far from over. We still play a few weeks after school is out. Pretty awesome. As I sit here and write this blog, I have 2 more finals to go. I should be studying but it is good to get away from the books and take a break every once in a while. It is that time of year where everyone around Belmont is packing, studying, and getting ready for summer. I am extremely excited. It's going to be a great summer.

On the Road Again!

It's finally here! At 4 PM today I will have officially completed my freshman year of college. I can't believe it!! Finals week actually hasn't been that stressful for me. Thankfully, my exams were spaced out so I was able to focus on one at a time. On Wednesday, Dead Day, my friends and I went to the Dead Day Carnival and it was so much fun! We had a picnic outside since the weather was so nice. After spending some time at the carnival, I decided that it was time to start packing. A few hours later, I had (almost) everything packed into boxes and my friends helped me load them into my car. It's so sad to think about leaving - I've had a wonderful semester and I'm really going to miss the people I've met here.

Presentations and Papers!

800px-Parthenon.at.Nashville.Tenenssee.01.jpg
So, it seems my life is increasingly insane, but I'm not overwhelmed yet. I've got a presentation due next week, and while it only has to be 5 to 7 minutes long, I'm also preparing for another presentation the week after, and that really needs to be done by Monday. In the midst of all that, I've got two quizzes I need to study for and a quiz in my Psychology Lab. I also have to read for my Creative Writing class on next Thursday, so I can't say I'm slowing down much.

CMT Awards!

One thing I love about Belmont, besides the wonderful cafeteria food, is the fact that you see random celebrities around campus at any given moment. This past week, anywhere you looked, there was a big name in country music. Why? Well...the CMT Awards of course!

Approaching the Finish Line.

mollybennnn.gif

Right now, I am enduring one of the most hectic weeks of the entire semester. The school work, the tests and the group papers are somewhat overwhelming; however, I am so thankful that the Lord enables me to climb over that mountain in order to reach the highest elevation! (Pictured to the right is a picture of my friend, Molly, and I outside the Curb Cafe -- one of the coolest dining places on campus!)

Finishing Strong

As I write this I am sitting outside in the courtyard, enjoying the 70-degree weather that we've had recently in Nashville. The tulips are blooming and the sun is shining - it's a beautiful day. I can't believe that in just two short weeks my mom will be here and we will be preparing to load up my little red Mercury Sable to make the nine-hour drive back to Kansas City! I still remember move-in day like it was yesterday; I remember meeting my roommates for the first time, spending hours unpacking and organizing, and just wondering what my first year of college had in store for me. The past two semesters have been wonderful, and I really can't wait to come back this fall.

One Day At a Time

So, we're close to the end of the semester and I'm back in the grind after a phenomenal break where all I did was basically sit around, read, write, watch a few movies, hang out with some friends, and go to Mass. It was a great Easter weekend, and I really enjoyed visiting the Cathedral of the Incarnation for their Easter services. home-photo.jpg

Winter Wonderland

Greetings from Kansas City!! I have been here for two days now and I'm absolutely loving it. I was a little nervous about being able to fly here after the ice storm, but I made it with no problems or delays at all! My dad was in Baltimore on a business trip when the ice storm hit and so, unfortunately, his flight home on Tuesday night was cancelled. Luckily, he was able to get a flight to Nashville instead and so he took me out to dinner! He spent the night in a hotel and then, on Wednesday, we were both on the same flight to Kansas City! My mom was a little disappointed that she couldn't pick me up from the airport herself (since my dad's car was already parked there), but she was waiting eagerly at the door when I got home.

Finishing Strong

I can't believe the end of the semester is already here. It's hard to believe it's gone by so quickly but so full of experiences at the same time. I have to say, it's been a great ride. It definitely equals the magnitude of my first year in its goodness, and I might even say it was better because I've gotten a lot better at time management and doing my homework.

Frosty and Frostier!

gingerbreaddd.jpg

This week has definitely been one of the most manic and crazy weeks yet! On Monday – I flew into Nashville-town not realizing the extravagant amount of homework – projects – and tests which would pile up on me a few days after. On Tuesday evening, I spent three hours in the Beaman Student Life Center studying for my third exam in Accounting II in hopes of earning a decent grade on the test. As for Wednesday, I spent most of the afternoon interning at Lyric Street Records and then returned back to school to go on duty at the Bruin Hills clubhouse from six-to-10 p.m. Sounds like fun doesn’t it?

As the Year Winds Down...

IMG_4071.jpg (This is how I feel about school lately)

School has been a whirlwind as of late. Lots of books to read and huge stack of papers to write beginning this weekend. But through it all, I've been pretty calm. I don't know, I have a hard time getting stressed about school work. I always think it's better to maintain a clear head so I can accomplish all that I can possibly accomplish even if it's not all I would like to finish.

Its quite possible that I'm still running off of break mode, as our Thanksgiving Break was just last week. I have to say, it can sometimes be really hard to get my mind back in academic order for school. It's like, "I wanna hang out with people, I wanna knit, I wanna write music!" But none of this can happen with the looming shadow of finals hanging over me. I'm very excited about the break, and I don't think school ending could come at a better time. I look forward to lounging around and reading, a lot!

Yet another great year at Belmont!

Yes, it's about that time of the year. When there are 300 minivans and trucks full of boxes, and students are a little sad that they are leaving their friends but happy that school is over. For me, I'm probably the exact opposite of everyone else. I don't really mind seeing everyone leave because I can still hang out with my friends here in Nashville, and I don't like being out on school for an extended period of time. That's why I take summer courses every year because I have to stay busy and keep my mind thinking. Actually, I'm busier during the summer than the school year....well, maybe not. It sort of feels that way because of classes, working, and running around to see all of my friends.

Josh and GunnerOverall, this was a great school year. There were a few rough spots, but for the most part it was a lot better than last year. Things such as changing my major from Music Business to Entrepreneurship/Marketing and working Preview Days are just a couple of important events this year. Here is a picture of my friend Gunner (yes, that's really his name) and me. We were working the doors in the Grand Atrium into the Student Life Center to greet guests as they made their way inside. As you can see, we are wide awake and ready to greet, but this picture was taken at 8 am on a Saturday. I didn't think it was possible either for college students to wake up that early on a Saturday, but it was well worth it, and if you want to find out why, come and visit us in Nashville sometime.

Hello Summer

One final down, two more to go! In one week from now I plan on being home on Long Island, working in the bagel store that I have worked in for about two years now, and enjoying the company of my friends from home. Yet at the same time, I anticipate that I will miss a lot of things here at Belmont as well. First and foremost, my friends.

blog.jpgI came here knowing nobody. I met my friend Jill at summer orientation when we were both sitting in a conference room learning about financial aid or something like that, and we started talking. As it turned out, we were both Spanish majors! She then introduced me to a girl she had met earlier in the day named Lauren. Since then, we have hung out with each other everyday that we were here on campus. As you can see in the picture, we once got caught in this really bad rainstorm and were soaked to the bone in the 30 seconds it takes to get from the parking garage to Wright Hall.
