Everything.

blogphotolast.jpg

I am almost finished with my junior year of college. Personally, I have come to the conclusion that the concept of time is impossible to follow. I am not quite sure where it goes. It disappears and vanishes just like the morning mist on a cool Sunday morning.

Time Flies

I cannot believe this year is almost over. It seems like just yesterday I was applying for Belmont and now summer is in our midst. I have had a great year. I'd like to recap a few things that I have got to experience and be a part of thus far.
Here goes....

My Crazy Life.

houstonn.jpg

I am so proud to say that Spring break was definitely rock-awesome. For break, I went to go visit my buddy Brian in Spring, Texas. Throughout the break, we ended up going to a Houston Rockets game, visiting his friends in Austin, catching a movie and just relaxing. Thankfully, I was so happy because of the warmer weather. It was definitely much warmer in Texas than it is in the great state of Tennessee. [Pictured above is my cousin Jessa to the left -- Me in the center -- and my buddy Brian to the right.]

Pages keep turning..

I feel as if I am a character in a novel that is learning to grasp every moment that life has to offer. But more importantly, a character who is portrayed as an upbeat, optimistic and energized college student. Right now, I’m not quite sure where the Lord (the Author) is leading me. However, there is definitely one thing that I know for sure; and that is to celebrate His truth and look forward to the next chapter.

Battle of the Boulevard!

IMG_0398.jpg
So it's been an intense past few weeks. I feel like I hardly have time to breathe. But life is good. So, last week Belmont had its annual Battle of the Boulevard against our school rival, Lipscomb (Lip-scum) University (Results!l). It was a great game and Belmont ended up with a win.

I'm the Lucky One.

feblog.jpg

This week has been one of the most crazy weeks of second semester thus far! On Monday, a few of my good friends celebrated my buddy Jason’s birthday! We all went to Mellow Mushroom for some delectable pizza, and afterwards, went over to a friend’s apartment to have yummy cupcakes. As the week progressed, I completed an abundance of assignments for my 18 credit class load.

She Works Hard for the Money

IMG_0684.jpg

Recently, I got two on campus jobs. One is in the University Ministries and I'm the student worker a couple of hours a week, and the other job is on the boulevard (Belmont Boulevard) at This & That (Link) which is a student run music and dorm decor store. It's pretty sweet I must say, and it's gone pretty well so far. I sold my first cd last week. I was way too excited about it, I must say.

Well, laundry's calling so I must be out if I want any clothes to wear for today.

There's only ONE Tree Hill

Almost two weeks into the semester and I’m in desperate need of a nap! I’m loving my schedule so far though. I decided to reduce my hours this semester and I’m already so glad that I did! My favorite class this semester is probably Acting for the Camera. I absolutely love it! It’s helping me develop myself as an actress and I’m really excited to see the progress over the next few months!

Celebrating MLK

mlk104front.jpg
This past Monday was the MLK Jr. Holiday and it was great to have a day off. But it's also great to see Belmont celebrating the life of a great leader and fighter for democracy. Over the past week and continuing through this week, Belmont has been offering a series of convocations celebrating Unity and many other values Dr. King espoused (Schedule of events is here).

And the Madness Begins

IMG_0222.jpg
(This picture is of me and my friend Guss over my Christmas Break. Don't I look mad (as in crazy, 'mad')?

So, I am one of those crazy sophomores who finds herself slightly ahead of the other sophomores and decides to take a few Third-Year classes because they sound interesting and will continue to help the process of graduating on time. I now am wondering if I should regret being one of those crazy sophomores after I've been to all my classes now.

Goodbye 2007...Hello 2008!

It’s the first week of classes and I’m a bit overwhelmed. I’m so excited about being back with all my friends, making more friends, and not knowing what possibilities lie ahead for this semester, etc. I had an incredible Christmas break! From going to movies with my family to going to Destin, FL with my friends for New Years, I’m pretty sure that this was potentially my best break so far.

The Best Convo Ever!

I went to the coolest convo convo ever last night! It was a Songwriting Q&A session featuring 3 songwriters from the Nashville area. Among those songwriters was Andy Davis who just happens to be one of my favorite artists!! He graduated from Belmont in ’03 and has been increasingly successful since his graduation. He’s still not a big as he should be, but I know he’s going to be insanely popular soon!

Umbrella-ella-ella-eh-eh-eh

Halloween was this week!! I didn't spend it exactly how I planned, so I'm glad I at least had my fun over the weekend. Saturday night, I went to a Halloween party with friends! It was funny to see everyone's costumes. My costume changed over a 3 day span. On Saturday night, I was a referee. Sunday night I decided to be a Cowboy’s football player. Monday night at a sorority social, I was a skater girl. I guess I was really into the sports theme this year! The funny thing is that on the actual day of Halloween, I didn’t even wear a costume.

The Folly of Fall

follies.jpg
So Friday and Saturday October 19th and 20th, I got to be a stagehand for Fall Follies. Fall Follies is an annual variety show that parodies life at Belmont, kind of similar to Saturday Night Live, I guess, in style. It's pretty much amazing and they also have four really cool artists perform during the show along with the houseband that helps to transition everything from skit to skit. It was really interesting being on the behind the scenes side of Follies this year, though every bit as enjoyable as spectating. Last years Follies was simply hilarious and though I wasn't able to see this year's Follies, save a rehearsal, the general consensus is that it was really good this year. Lots of students bring their parents or friends who don't go to Belmont and its really a great way to share the University's sense of humor with people.

Plannin' for Fall Break

IMG_3315.jpg

So, Fall Break is next week and I'm still not completely sure what's going down. Most likely I'll end up in Chicago with my friend Sarah, yay! Right now I'm trying to stay focused on getting through mid terms and such. Thankfully, I only have one midterm. However, I also have a few short papers to write, but I'll be fine. Last night they had Roomate Wars in the lobby of ThraillKill (my dorm), and though I didn't get to stay for the whole thing, it looked like loads of fun.

People have been getting sick. I guess it’s just that time of year. I was so proud of myself for not getting sick, and then…it happened.

College...A Full-Time Job.

I have been stressed out these few days with big projects and assignments being due for class as well as other things such as meetings. I usually call my mom every other day or so, and for the most part I am complaining about how busy I am. And I forget that I am talking to my mom, who happens to work six days a week at her job. So my use of the word "busy" is slightly different from hers. There are some days when I feel like I just have nothing left to finish out the day. I don't understand because I go to sleep at a reasonable time every night and wake up an hour or two before my classes. This is to sort of get in the process of waking up. But it never fails, every day there is at least one class period that I seem not to be very coherent. Trust me, I am not sleeping in class, I'm just not totally focused. If that makes any sense at all. And then, on top of all of my classes I have to make it to organization meetings, church functions, and the much needed convocation events.
