Halfway Through Summer...

I can’t believe that summer is already halfway over! It’s been so nice to be home with my family, but I’m getting excited about seeing my friends from Belmont and starting classes this fall. I think I’m most excited about taking the “Principles of Nutrition” course. The other classes that I’m taking are “Genetic Healthcare” (an introductory Biology course), “Spanish Cinema,” “The Art Experience,” and “Spanish Literature.” It might not sound like a full load, but it actually evens out to 16 hours. I’m sure that Biology will keep me busy; I’ve always enjoyed science, but certain aspects of it can be difficult to grasp.

Two months into the summer and I still haven’t been to the pool. I can’t believe it! I’ve been planning to work on my tan during our family vacation to Florida, but I'm thinking that I should probably prepare myself for that so I don’t burn too terribly… This week was actually really busy for me. I baby-sat for Laura, the 16-month-old baby that I take care of on Wednesdays and Fridays, and in addition to that job I also had some babysitting jobs on Monday and Tuesday. It was nice to be busy and I had a really great time getting to see the kids I’ve baby-sat ever since I was 12. I will miss them in the fall!

It was so hot here in Kansas City this week!! I think we made it into the 90s every day! I know that isn’t terribly hot in comparison to some places, but it’s definitely the hottest that it’s been in KC this year. Hopefully it will cool down for the 4th of July. I don’t think that my family has any major plans for the 4th yet, but we are planning to visit my mom’s side of the family sometime soon. My grandma (I call her Mamaw) lives on a farm in Kennett, Missouri (pictured at right) and I absolutely love it there. n1195201223_30248155_1456.jpg
The days are long and peaceful and, at night, the stars sparkle like crystals. You can see each and every single one - there is truly nothing like it. I can’t wait to catch up with Mamaw and all of my cousins/aunts/uncles that live in Kennett! Visiting them is always one of the highlights of my summer.
