The End is Near!
Well, Spring Break is over and it's time to get back to work again...but only for the next four weeks! I can't believe that the end of the year is so close. It seems like just yesterday I was unloading boxes from my car and anticipating what college classes would be like. In a way, this year has flown by, yet I also feel like it's been a long year because I've learned so much through this huge transition in my life. It was great to spend time relaxing at home over the break; it's hard to be away from your family for three months! My brother is taller than me now, so that means that I am officially the shortest one in our family. He and my dad got to spend some time in Phoenix, AZ at the Royals' spring training baseball games. They had a great time. As for my mom and I, we got to have a spa day! I had my very first massage and I also got a spa pedicure. What a great way to relax!
It was good to get back to Belmont and catch up with my friends. It's going to be really weird not seeing them over the summer!! Raychel is coming to visit me in Kansas City the week after school ends and we're going to take a road-trip to Branson, MO! We're going to Silver Dollar City and although I'm not crazy about roller coasters, I might have to ride a few of them...if Raychel makes me. The hardest part for me is just getting on the roller coaster. After I ride it for the first time, I want to ride it again and again. I'm excited about our trip to Branson; it will be quite an adventure.
This week is going to be crazy (seems to be a theme for this semester, doesn't it?), but I'm excited about this weekend! Preview Day is this Saturday, and since I'm a Bruin Recruiter, I will have the opportunity to talk to prospective students about Belmont! I'm looking forward to it.
Then, Saturday night is the Best of the Best Showcase, which features the winners of the Rock, Pop, Christian, Country, and Cover Showcases, as well as the winners of each ASCAP Writer's Night! I can't wait to go!! Finally, on Sunday, I'm going to watch the spring musical, "Thoroughly Modern Millie." One of my friends, Brittany (she's actually from KC too), is going to be in it and I can't wait to see her! Everyone in the cast has worked so hard and I'm sure it will be wonderful. I should probably get a head-start on my homework so that I can enjoy my weekend. I have to give two speeches this week but, thankfully, one of them is already over. It's actually getting much easier for me to talk in front of people - participating in the speech contest definitely helped with that! I still get a little nervous, of course, but I feel more confident and in control of my nerves than I did at the beginning of this semester.
