Broken Circuits, Birthdays, and Brad Paisley!

I had a sudden urge to express this series of unfortunate events, if you will...and this seemed to be the best way possible. Ok so yes..it's like 3 in the morning. I really should be well into a great night of sleep..however, I'm having an allergic reaction to the universe which is preventing me from enjoying much on anything right now. Morbid? Yes. Who cares. If your life was anywhere near as weird, awkward, and unfortunate as mine, then you'd understand how I feel.

I have a music business test in about 5 hours that I really haven't studied for because, unfortunately, my life is weird. After completing a really hard night's work at the TK front desk on Saturday night, I wasn't feeling well, so my daddy came to pick me up. I love living close to home. It’s always good to know that if I'm sick, my mom or dad will come to the rescue. Anyway. I went home, watched "Into the Wild" with my mom, dad, and Truman (the coolest dog ever), then fell asleep. Woke up the next morning, had breakfast, went to mass like the good Catholic I am, ran errands, bought sheet music, prepared food for the Super Bowl, watched the Super Bowl with my fam, Smcgee and Chesley (GOOOOOOO GIANTS!!!), then came back to the university. After the ladies so graciously helped me bring my groceries, etc. up to my dorm, I attempted to listen to my iHome, as I always do when studying. Oddly enough, my iHome wouldn't turn on. I got a little confused. “It's plugged in, so what's the deal?” I pondered to myself. I then tried to turn on different electronics in my room. TV..no go. Piano?...another no. And worsT of all...fridge was not working, which could only mean that a circuit was blown. GREEEEEAT. This is my life. So I stroll over to the R.A.'s room, tell her the “dealio” and she gives me the number to get it fixed. Luckily the maintenance men were speedy and came to save the day within 10 minutes. I was pretty pleased. It was fixed within minutes. Leaving me to choose between doing homework and facebook (facebook always seems to win).

I'm having a great ol' time studying (aka listening to music and doing anything possible to avoid the act of studying) while I'm listening to the same three OneRepublic songs because I'm obsessed with them...1) Say (All I Need), 2) Come Home and 3) Stop and Stare. I finished my Ear Training homework which I was very proud of myself for actually doing. I look at the clock, it's almost 2 and I'm thinking I'm probably not going to do well on my test tomorrow regardless so how about I just go to sleep now?! Great! I decided to turn my overhead lights off and just turn on my lamp by my bed.....baaaaaaaaad decision.

One click on the lamp and it makes this horrific noise that sounded kind of like the woman from The Grudge. That’s how I remember it right now. There was an intense power surge coming from that little lamp and then I saw it...FLAAAAAAMES. Seriously?! Seriously! Why me?! So I immediately fall to the ground. I'm freaking out because I thought I was about to catch the whole dorm on fire. I look at my roommate sitting on the other side of the room and I was like "It's on fire!!!" I felt bad for yelling, but I honestly thought I just caught my hand on fire...it only way to express that. She didn't see the fire but then she looked at my hand and saw that my thumb resembled a marshmallow that you left in the campfire for too long. The "flames" disappeared after the lamp decided it didn't want to kill me. So I unplugged the lamp, tried to get rid of the campfire smell in my room, and now it's almost pointless to go to sleep. It's 3am...seriously?!?! Why does this random stuff happen to me??? Is it a sign from God that I need to go to sleep earlier? Is it a sign that maybe I should study instead of roam onto the wonderful world of facebook? Who knows? People, just pray that I can avoid disasters for a while. This is just getting a little ridiculous.

Oh and I really do find this funny! So if you laughed, don’t feel bad because I did too!

On the upside, my birthday is next week and Brad Paisley's concert is on Friday!!! :-)
