Goodbye 2007...Hello 2008!

It’s the first week of classes and I’m a bit overwhelmed. I’m so excited about being back with all my friends, making more friends, and not knowing what possibilities lie ahead for this semester, etc. I had an incredible Christmas break! From going to movies with my family to going to Destin, FL with my friends for New Years, I’m pretty sure that this was potentially my best break so far.

Quick story about Destin…I was at dinner with my friends, Sarah, Sarah, and Chelsey, and we were minding our own business while we were watching the Titans game from our table. We noticed high school boys blatantly staring in our direction and we thought “aww, how sweet.” We didn’t really think much of it, but then something really funny happened when we were done with our meals. Their waitress brought us over a huge Hot Fudge Sundae. It was probably one of the funniest things to ever happen to me. The sundae was fabulous, not gonna lie! We thanked the boys and then went on our way. They were pretty bold to do that, but it was really sweet, so we at least talked to them for a little while.

So far, things have been great on campus! I’m so happy to be back on campus with my friends and I’m already getting back into the swing of things. Now that I’m officially a sophomore and I’ve been at Belmont Univ (as my friends so lovingly refer to it) for an entire year, I’ve finally gotten a routine that I feel really works for me. I’m probably one of the most neurotic people when it comes to being organized. I can’t stand forgetting things or not having things organized, which gets a little irritating at times, but it helps me a lot! My schedule for this semester has been typed and color-coded. Ha ha. Nerd?! No sir, no ma’am! I just call it being “disciplined”….okay maybe I am a bit of a nerd, but it’s okay because I thoroughly enjoy it! Ha ha. A lot of freshman get caught up in the whole “I’m in college so I should stay out late all the time” thing, but they soon learn that if they can’t balance school with late nights with friends, they might need to rethink their priorities. It’s really important to find that balance between school work, hanging out with your new friends, and extracurricular activities like sports, Greek life, etc. I can’t believe that I’m not a freshman anymore!! I’m so glad not to have to call myself that anymore, but at the same time, it’s a bit surreal! I don’t want to grow up! I want to be in college forever.

Anyway, I absolutely love my classes. My teachers this semester have already gotten me extremely excited for the rest of the term! My favorite is definitely Survey to Music Business. It is so incredible. I think it’s the most pertinent class that I’ve taken…ever. Wanting to be in the music industry, it is so crucial for me to learn what I’m really getting myself into. This class is going to teach me the tools I need to know in order to make it into the music business, how to learn the ropes, how not to get taken advantage of, how to secure a career with longevity, how to be a legitimate musician, how to gain respect in the industry, etc. I always thought that, in order to be a “famous singer,” all I would have to do is get discovered, but there is so much more to it. Needless to say, I am very very very excited!

Off to go study for a quiz and finish some homework!

Happy New Year!
