Celebrating MLK

mlk104front.jpg
This past Monday was the MLK Jr. Holiday and it was great to have a day off. But it's also great to see Belmont celebrating the life of a great leader and fighter for democracy. Over the past week and continuing through this week, Belmont has been offering a series of convocations celebrating Unity and many other values Dr. King espoused (Schedule of events is here).

Tonight was great because I got to be a part of the worship service. It was really cool. I got to sing on the Worship team and it was amazing because God's presence was totally moving. It was a great night and a great word was delivered by Junior Scott Claybrook. I'm really excited for tomorrow night and Friday morning because Dr. Renita Weems will be hosting a panel discussion among local pastors about issues dealing with race and reaching out, and she will also be speaking Friday morning.

Its been a great celebration of MLK Jr. so far. I only hope that Belmont will continue to put lots of effort and push behind this and maybe even extend the celebration to a month!
