Home

Lately – it seems as if the word “Home” is a state-of-mind. The accumulation of exams, final projects, and any extra work is coming to an end. I can already taste my dad’s home-made snickerdoodle cookies and my mom’s knock-you-off-the-seat-of-your-pants chicken-dumpling soup. Until then, I have to settle for meals in the “caf” and sub sandwiches from Belmont’s ‘Corner Court.’
This semester has definitely been a semester of growth. To be honest, this has been one of the most difficult semesters that I have had ever since I began college! The phenomenal internship at Lyric Street Records, the sixteen credits of upper-level classes, and the foundation of new friendships has allowed me to realize that I can do all things through my faith, reliance, and strength in Christ.
To create a holiday spark, I put up Christmas lights in my apartment in Bruin Hills. In general, I really will not miss the homework. However – I will miss the coffee nights with friends, Church Sunday’s, and making hot chocolate in my Cocomotion. The “Cocomotion” is a hit amongst my friends. Without a doubt, this rock-awesome contraption whips up the best hot chocolate imaginable. What could be any better than a glass of hot chocolate on those late-study nights?
As for now, I am counting down the days until I will set foot in the land of nowhere, Wisconsin. The eight inches of snow – the icy and chilling temperature of merely nineteen degrees – and the warmth of a blazing fireplace leaves me speechless. Until then, I can only dream about it. After all, there’s still a few more days of final exams and then I am out of here! Merry Christmas!
