Bruiser's Sweetheart
I had an absolute blast at the first men’s basketball game of the season! They played the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders. I thought it was going to be a close game, but it wasn’t anything along those lines. The Belmont men completely owned the court! I was very proud to call myself a Bruin that night! I mean, I’m always proud to be a Bruin, but I was ESPECIALLY proud that night!
The ending score of the game was 85-62. I had another eventful night of basketball on Wednesday night as well. I went to the women’s game with a few friends after we finished our homework for the night. The ladies were playing Alabama, who the Belmont men defeated the previous week. I was particularly excited for our women’s team to do the same, especially in light of Alabama’s recent loss at the Iron Bowl. I’m quite the Auburn fan, so that game was the highlight of my weekend pretty much. All I have to say is….WAR EAGLE!
Anyway, the women’s game was a lot of fun. My friend, Elisabeth, and I were asked to be in charge of the 3-Point Balloon. We kept track of how many 3-point shots our team made by placing a large number 3 onto a rope that was held up with a huge, red balloon. I had a lot of fun doing that! By the end of the night, the girls had scored over seven 3-point shots!
Every game, our mascot, Bruiser, chooses a lucky lady to be “Bruiser’s Sweetheart”. He has a bouquet of flowers while the band plays “Hey Baby.” At the girl’s game, I got a nice surprise when Bruiser chose me as his sweetheart! I was up on the big screen for like 3 minutes while Bruiser gave me hugs and danced with me. I’m not gonna lie, it was pretty embarrassing, but it was really funny!
Exams next week!!! Almost done with the semester!!
