Reunited... and it Feels So Good
OK, so maybe I'm not reunited with any of my Belmont buddies yet (Although my friend Molly and her boyfriend Patrick might be visiting this week!), but I'm definitely getting close! Because I'm an SLA (Spiritual Life Assistant), I get to return to campus on August 12th-- a week ahead of everybody and I'm so excited about it! I get to go through SLA training with a lot of awesome people and a lot of cool friends. I'm also really excited about Welcome Week and helping the freshman get all set for their first day on campus! It seems like just yesterday I was going through the same thing. Gosh, the year, and the summer, have flown by! Now I feel like a veteran at the college thing-- I've got the hang of it and I'm ready to return. Yes, I'm even ready for classes to start again.
(My brother's girlfriend, My sister, Me)
On the other hand, I will be a little sad to leave my family and friends again. I've had an awesome summer, and I've really enjoyed being around all these awesome people. Just last night, my younger sister and two younger brothers stayed up watching Making the Band 4. I know, it's a lame show, but don't act like it's any worse than American Idol! Plus, the guys on the show are really talented. Anyways, it was really fun to just hang out and laugh a lot with them. One of my older brother's just left for school yesterday, so the looming shadow of school is becoming more and more pronounced as the days go by. I'm trying to value each day, as I know I won't be able to see my family's faces for a while. And what's more, my parents are both in Malawi, Africa, right now. They don't return until Saturday, which is the day I leave for school, so we're going to end up crossing each other's paths. That kind of stinks, but I think they'll probably just end up making a trip to visit me later on in the semester.
So, I guess I've got lots of packing left to do, clothes to wash, and rooms to straighten up. One thing's for certain, though-- I'm definitely ready for this semester.
