Livin' the Dream

I know I say this in every single blog so why break the tradition? Life is absolutely crazy-busy. And why in the world is summer going so fast? Will it ever slow down? This week is definitely one of the busiest weeks yet so far this summer. Tonight – I’m going to hang out with my buddy Greg – and later on – plan to catch up with another buddy of mine at Fido’s – a local coffee shop located right here in the heart of Nashville Town.

As for the weekend - well I plan on relaxing here in Nashville. I'm quite excited about it. If I can find some free time I am going to go on a photo rampage throughout town. I pretty much take photos of anything and everything. My camera is sort of like my best friend. I don’t really know what I would do without my little technological buddy! Anyways, to say the least, this weekend will definitely be knock-you-off-the-seat-of-your-pants rock awesome. Even if it only consists of working on English homework, going for bike rides, and rollin' with the flow.

My internship at Big Machine Records is absolutely amazing. I am learning so much each and every day about the music industry. I would have never thought that there is so much that revolves around the business side of promoting a highly-successful roster of Billboard artists. I totally dig the publicity side of the label. With a sense of humor, my fellow intern Mary - always knows where to find me. I am always lost in the publicity room putting together press kits, chronologically categorizing magazine articles, and putting together more press kits. Did I mention press kits? For some reason – I have such a passion for the music industry and especially – the publicity department. I guess I have found my niche in terms of working at a record label. I love it and I wouldn’t know what I would do without it (the internship – and by extension – the publicity room).

As for reading - I've been reading a few books lately. The Great Gatsby honestly rocks. And I also encourage those of you who actually enjoy summer reading - I encourage you to read Tobias Wolff's incredible memoir, "This Boy's Life." Both novels are amazing! By the way...I even plan on re-reading my favorite book, "Blue Like Jazz" at some point again this summer! In relation to jazz, I took a photo recently in the evening which I tagged along with this post. Does the photo remind you of Jazz music? Think about it. Relate jazz music to God. And by the end of summer - read Donald Miller's "Blue Like Jazz." By the first paragraph - you will be hooked. End of story.
