During the school year, I practically live in the Beaman. But towards the end of the semester during finals and this few weeks of summer, I haven’t even stepped foot into the workout center. I know that’s pretty bad, but can you imagine me trying to play ball after about a month of not playing at all. That’s right, you guessed it! I was absolutely terrible, and on top of that I wasn’t that good to begin with. The thing that made the whole situation even worse is that I was playing with some complete strangers. But please don’t worry… I am big enough to handle myself.
Since the gym was closed for the weekend, I just decided to go down the street to a local park near campus. When I first pulled up, I saw a group of older guys playing and some high school/ college age kids playing as well. So of course I picked to play with the older guys first. Come on now, I had to warm up first on the older guys then go to the younger, quicker players next. I just sort of jump in a game of two-on-two, and I am straight up schooling these old guys. I mean my hook shot and fadeaway are falling every time. So now I choose to move on to the young guys. You know I needed a challenge since the old guys were too easy for me. But to make a long story short, these guys ran circles around me the entire time I played. They were doing all these tricks and crazy shots, and not to mention half of the guys could dunk easily. From now on I will be shooting hoops so when I go to the park again there will be a different outcome.
