Greek God 2007
Each sorority or fraternity here at Belmont has philanthropy. There is one specific organization that we promote and raise money to help. The girls of Phi Mu do a lot around campus to support the Children's Miracle Network, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children’s hospitals across North America. This past Wednesday, the girls of Phi Mu put on a male beauty pageant in order to raise money for Children's Miracle Network.
I've never witnessed a male beauty pageant before, and let me just tell you, it was hilarious. The competition kicked off in full Greek style, with the guys wearing their best "Greekery," as our emcee called it. The Toga competition was hilarious. Ranging from togas made out of a Texas flag to a toga crafted together out of Spongebob Squarepants sheets, the creativity from these guys was endless. The potential Greek Gods were mostly members of a fraternity here, but many of them were non-Greek as well.
Other competitions included Casual Wear, Swim Wear, Evening Wear, On-Stage Interview Questions, and even a "surprise" Talent competition. I think that the talent portion was my favorite. The remaining five contestants had about 5 to 10 minutes to put together a talent to show the audience and judges. The talents included yodeling, bagpipes, "dancing" (I'm not quite sure what to call that talent...I'll just put it in the 'dance' category), rapping the theme song from "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," and even mind-reading. I must say that I was quite entertained. In the end, there could only be one winner. I personally think that Tanner makes a great Greek God!
