You gotta love it!

curb.jpgIt’s kind of crazy all the stuff that’s been going on around campus lately. Well, of course were still buzzing and proud of our men’s and women’s basketball teams a week ago, but there is just tons of “other” things going on as well. For one, there is the Other Showcase this weekend, which is the last showcase before the “Best-of the-Best” showcase. The showcases are always produced and performed very well by the music business majors. If you take a good look at the picture, the band is “Soul Force” and they were the winners of last years’ Other Showcase. But look really close and there is none other than Melinda Doolittle, a front-runner contestant on American Idol. She was here performing just a couple years ago, now on her way to maybe becoming the next big star from Belmont.

There is also stuff to do around town like hockey games. Believe it or not, the Predators are pretty big here in Nashville. There hasn’t been this much hype about them since they first came here several years ago. I didn’t really like it much watching it on TV, but to get a chance to catch a game in person was pretty cool. I’m a guy, so of course the BEST part is the fighting and the slamming into the wall. It almost made me feel like I was watching a football game, but not as rough. But as far as campus life is concerned, right now everybody is scrambling to find a roommate for next year. Me, I haven’t found one, but I’m too lazy to ask anyone. I’ll probably wait until the last day just like every other semester, but that’s just me. Classes are going pretty good for a change, but it’s hard to focus with all the games in my dorm room. I bought the XBOX 360 a few weeks ago, then just last week my roommate goes out and gets the Nintendo Wii. There’s no way to fight off the temptation of playing Madden or Wii Bowling all night. We usually play the games until about 3 or 4 in the morning and get up for class a few hours later. Take that for a schedule, freshmen. So, please don’t be like me. If you have a game system, get your work done first, then stay up all night playing the game.
