Well, it’s almost time for Spring Break and it seems like school is starting to get fuller with homework and things like that. In fact, just recently, for my sociology class I attended a Lecture by the Rev. James Lawson. He was a very active figure during the civil rights movement, most notably working alongside Martin Luther King Jr.
His speech was definitely powerful and thought provoking. It makes me glad that Belmont is trying to gather such great speakers from across the nation and have them. While I know some people are too busy to come and listen to what the speakers have to say, I think Belmont does an awesome job of providing it’s students with worthwhile lectures. Where else can you get academic lectures on fairy tales, speeches from the founder of Dippin’ Dots, or rousing declarations from social activists? Only at Belmont.
