Ash Wednesday

Hey yall!
This past week has been pretty eventful for me. Tuesday, I celebrated my 18th birthday by going to see a private Taylor Swift concert at 98WSIX and Wednesday was Ash Wednesday!

One of my friends works as an intern at the radio station 97.9, so I was invited to go watch the show! It was a great birthday present! I’ve worked with Taylor before and I’ve been a fan of her’s for quite a while so it was great to see her perform!! If you’ve never heard her before, she’s fabulous!! I also got to meet Newman, one of the DJs from the radio station and he’s a really funny guy. My friend is in the music business program and was able to get an internship at the radio station last semester, so that’s another perk of being in the music program here at Belmont! You get to meet great perfomers and really interesting people!

As a Catholic, it is very important for me to attend mass on Ash Wednesday. However, I don’t have a car on campus, so I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to make it to mass. I then found out that Belmont was holding a special Ash Wednesday service in the Neely Dining Hall. It was held from 10am until 11am. I was able to get ashes on my forehead and my mom was really excited to hear that I was going to mass. I wasn’t aware that there was such a large Catholic community on the Belmont campus! When I showed up for mass, I was suprised to see the huge turnout. It’s great to know the cultural and spiritual diversity here on campus. Belmont makes sure that, as Christians, we are able to attend church services as well as interesting events in order to strengthen our walk with Christ. I love that!
