Nashville!

Being in Nashville, it is always possible find something interesting to do. Whether it is a campus activity, a weekly target run, a hockey game, a football game, or a concert downtown, there is always something going on if you look hard enough (and have time for it). About two weeks ago, I had the opportunity to literally fulfill a life dream, and see Josh Turner in concert! My friend Lauren was working with Service Corps (a group of music business majors that helps with local concerts and what-not) and had an extra ticket, so off I went to see Josh Turner. He was amazing, sang all of my favorite songs, and I was in heaven!

So when I am not at a concert or doing homework in my room, you can generally find my friends and me at the mall. n34105410_30437639_776.jpg One of the best things about the Nashville area is that there are about four malls all within a half hour drive of campus. Talking to my friends who go to school in more rural areas, they could only dream of this luxury. Where my boyfriend goes to school, there are no malls within a half hour. What is even worse for him is the fact that freshman at his school aren’t allowed to have cars. Here at Belmont, whoever wants to bring their car to campus can, and my friends have never had a problem finding a spot in the parking garage. Enough people have cars here that even if you personally don’t have one, chances are that one of your friends or your roommate will have one, so you will never have to wonder how you are going to get to all of the fun and exciting places around Nashville.

My mom has told me numerous times since I have been here that college is what I make of it. While yes, it is important to keep academics your first priority, it is also important to not miss out on fun opportunities that come your way. Since college I have gotten much better at budgeting my time, making enough time to get all my schoolwork done and have gotten a good taste of all the Nashville area has to offer along the way.
