Urban Showcase

alvinlove.JPG
The past few weeks have been pretty busy for many of us students just trying to get back into the routine of classes and campus life. But for me especially because on top of all that stuff, I was auditioning for the Urban Showcase here on campus. There is last year's winner of the Urban Showcase Alvin Love, who is also in the commercial showcase this year. I know what most people think..."WHAT? Belmont has an Urban Showcase?!" Yes, in fact we have them for every genre of music.

Chillin At The Curb

steve moakler.jpg So, last night after watching the Bruin's Men's Basketball game (We lost but it was so close) I decided to hit up the Curb Cafe with a few friends.

Nashville!

Being in Nashville, it is always possible find something interesting to do. Whether it is a campus activity, a weekly target run, a hockey game, a football game, or a concert downtown, there is always something going on if you look hard enough (and have time for it). About two weeks ago, I had the opportunity to literally fulfill a life dream, and see Josh Turner in concert! My friend Lauren was working with Service Corps (a group of music business majors that helps with local concerts and what-not) and had an extra ticket, so off I went to see Josh Turner. He was amazing, sang all of my favorite songs, and I was in heaven!

An ordinary morning...

blog2007.jpg

Today was satisfying, and without a doubt, quite relaxing! This morning, I attended Christ Church. The sermon held today was quite rewarding due to the fact that it emphasized that we should “set apart” things in life which may stray us from the presence of God. As a whole, the worship service, the choir, and the accompaniment of two great friends, definitely made for a great day.

So Glad to be Back!

The Byrd Cage
I'm going to kind of miss staying up in the wee hours of the morning, and getting up after lunch time every day. Man, that was the life, yeah for about two weeks or so. As much as I wanted to be out of school and take a break from everything for a while, I just couldn't wait to get school started again. One reason is because of being able to finally see all of your friends. But the main reason is the BIGGEST game/event on campus, which is the Battle of the Boulevard. For those of you who don't understand, I'll just have to explain.

Happy 2007!

Happy New Year!! It seems like I just left Belmont for Christmas break. I had about three weeks off but it felt more like three days. Break was pretty good, I was able to spend lots of time with my boyfriend and my family and I just had time to chill out. I came back to Belmont and then left again for a few days to go on a retreat with Debate. That was good fun, and productive too!! I have most of a speech done and ready for the upcoming round of forensics tournaments!

Back to the college life...

the rock-awesome ones.jpg

Wow. All I can say is that it is definitely GREAT to be back. However, I thoroughly enjoyed my Christmas break! It is always great to return home to spend the time with the ones I love. Afterall, there’s no place like home…! Without a doubt, being away from home for one entire semester made me appreciate my family even more, and by extension, the simplistic comforts of home that we sometimes take for granted.

Welcome Home?

Welcome Home! Yeah, I know it’s funny to find myself seeing Belmont as home already, but it really does feel that way. It's weird how quickly that happened. Christmas Break was good and I went home to Miami for the first time. However, while some people seemed to have excitement filled breaks, mine was more of a “what the heck am I supposed to do today?” kind of thing.
