Running around like crazy!

room door decorationThe holidays are almost here! I am proud to admit that my roommate and I (ok, well mostly my roommate because she is awesome) have already decorated our room for Christmas!! Yeah, we are insane and are quite aware that Christmas is more than a month away, but coming inside out of the ever present Nashville rain is just so much better when you have a festive room to be in!

Since fall break, things have been going by so quickly. This will be my first weekend without a debate tournament in about three weeks, and as much as I love debating, some sleep will be much appreciated. That is so long as I get my research paper for my seminar class done during daylight hours. I can never seem to work during the day, perhaps from years of being in school until about 4 and not starting my homework until 8 at night.

My research paper shouldn’t be all that bad to do though. My seminar class is entitled “Collision of Culture” and my paper is on how the suppression of culture can actually cause the culture to become more widespread and last longer. It sounds like a contradiction of terms, but I have been able to find some good examples of how this is true in the books that we have to read as well as in history itself. Now all I have to do is lock myself in an isolated room, find a computer that doesn’t have access to facebook, myspace, aim or msn messenger, conveniently lose my cell phone, and I will have a research paper done in no time!

Class registration was also this week. It was a bit challenging. The schedule that I planned with my advisors had to change almost entirely because almost all of the classes I wanted to take were full by the time I got to register. It worked out alright though; I have International Relations, Economics, Asian Humanities, Survey of East Asia, and a Psychology class. And only one class on Monday and Wednesday, and Fridays off. Oh, the joys of college. On that note, using the course listings is a really good way to find out about the school. You can see the types of classes offered, and can get a better feeling of what classes are offered here at Belmont, or at any school for that matter.

Well, I guess I am going to go attempt that research paper now. Have a Happy Thanksgiving and get those applications in!!
