Time Flies When You're Having Fun!
As Mellissa pointed out, it's hard to believe that it's already October. This week and next week have been jam-packed with lovely things they like to call "mid-terms" around here and everyone is looking forward to fall break on the horizon. As for me, I can't say that much has changed or that there are events that I'm just dying to tell you about, but I think that's a good thing. Settlling into a normal routine here may have taken a while but it's definitely helped lower stress. For example, right now I'm in my pajamas. I just rolled out of bed, climbed in my chair, my feet haven't even touched the floor for the day and here I am writing this entry! This isn't to say that nothing has been exciting these past few weeks, but everything is just sinking in a little deeper now if that makes sense. But on to the exciting stuff!
I am a member of an organization here on campus and worldwide called Grammy University Network or Grammy U. It's (obviously) affiliated with the Recording Academy and the Grammy Awards, but Grammy U is just for college students to gain an insight and special networking opportunities and experience in the business. . Last week our Grammy U chapter had a mixer with a panel of 3 successful figures in the industry: Jeff Hanna of The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Keith Urban's Publicist, and a renowned gospel singer who now works behind the scenes. First of all, let me just say that even if the presentation was bad, the food was amazing. But not only was the presentation not bad, it was amazing. It was so cool to see a room packed with college students getting one on one interaction with these people that seem like "untouchables." This is probably the coolest experience I've had thus far because I had my first opportunity with a Belmont supported organization to have personal experience in my field of study.
