Time Management... What's That?
Time waits for no one, at least that's what they say. And never have those words been truer than in my recent weeks of college. Now, I'll be the first to admit, neither am I the most orderly person, nor am I the most timely. However, being in college, it's looking like I'm going to change all that. There is so much to remember to do, it's easy to lose track of the time and find myself just barely making a homework assignment or maybe missing one altogether. Basically, the responsiblity of applying myself to my work and making time for scholastic activities first, can be difficult to do. I'm just now getting into the swing of things, and I'm still not quite sure who's controlling the swing.
One thing I did find helpful though, was a time management conference I had with my First-Year Seminar teacher. The conference had me plot out my whole semester onto a monthly and weekly calendar, and I also had to come up with three goals I wanted to acheive this year. Overall, it was helpful in showing me what I needed to do to better manage my time, and how I could make my schedule work for me.
The transition from living at home (where I had my parents to partially guide me through the hours of the day) and living at college (where if I don't do something it won't get done) can be trying. But with some effort and help from others around me in the area of organizing my time to maximize my life at Belmont, I think I can make it work.
