Neighborhood Advisory Group Formed

Last year the Metropolitan Planning Commission authorized the formation of a Belmont University Neighborhood Advisory Group to advise the planning commission and the university as they implement Belmont’s campus master plan. On May 11, 2006 the Planning Commission appointed the following individuals to serve as members of this advisory group: Artis Adams, Keith Durbin, David Graeflin, John Green, Denise Gyauch, Jan Hosse, Jan Johnson, Mildred Johnson and Ross Pepper. These persons were nominated for positions in the advisory group by Councilwoman Ginger Hausser and the university. The group held its initial meeting on June 22. Topics of discussion included parking issues, plans for calming traffic and improving pedestrian safety around the campus and the theatre project (see "Construction Update" below). The group expects to meet again in the next few weeks to continue work on a traffic calming and pedestrian safety plan. Any plan must be approved by Metro.
