ATTENTION SONGWRITERS

Big Yellow Dog Music and the Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business will be hosting a showcase on campus in honor of BYD’s 10 Year Anniversary. A student songwriter will be selected by BYD Execs to play in the showcase along with some of Big Yellow Dog’s hit writers such as Mindy Smith, Josh Kear, Karyn Rochelle and Shawn Camp. WAVES AUDIO EVENT WITH LEGENDARY RECORDING ENGINEER EDDIE KRAMER

Wednesday, March 19, 7:30pm, Beaman A & B "Studio Classics Collection Experience with Eddie Kramer": Kramer has engineered recordings by Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Led Zepplin, Kiss and countless others. This event will focus on how Kramer has adapted the use of plug-in digital audio processors to his style of recording and mixing.

Service Corps Blood Drive


With all the catastrophes going on recently blood is in limited supply. Sign-up or stop by the Neely dining hall on Monday, March 31st and join Service Corps in helping out the American Red Cross by donating blood. Hours are 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and all Belmont students will receive community service convocation. Service Corps and the American Red Cross have sign-ups online at www.givelife.org to schedule an appointment. Use sponsor code Belmont19 and choose the Service Corps blood drive.Then register and sign-up for a time. Walk-in donor spaces will be very limited, so please take the time to sign-up today. Fall Follies Producer Wanted

Fall Follies provides a unique experience for students to be involved in a full scale production for students by students and about students. With an average of over 2,000 students attending Follies, it is our biggest Program Board event of the year. Students involved in the production/direction process will gain valuable experience with theatre and production.

The first position filled is the producer. Download the application below. Once the producer is selected, he/she will select two directors: music and comedy. From there, the Producer, Musical Director, and Comedy director will select the "players" for the show. All positions are open to students across campus. Unite for Union Benefit Show

In response to the devastation caused by the recent tornadoes, Belmont students are hosting a benefit concert this coming Wednesday, February 20th in the Curb Café. Please join us to help support Union University students during this time! The show will include Belmont student acts: Brooke Annibale, Gabe Vitek, Steve Moakler, and Parker Welling. The cover charge is a $5.00 donation and all proceeds go directly to Union University. AUDIO ENGINEERING SOCIETY HAPPENINGS

Michael Wagener, rock producer/engineer extraordinaire will be addressing our student AES chapter this Friday in MC 109, 10am. Q&A should be fun.
Also, on Jan. 26th Jeff Balding will be conducting an all day mix session in Studio A for our techies. Jeff is also teaching "The Recording Engineer" this semester and we are excited to add his expertise to our AET faculty and staff.

The Student Leadership Council (SLC) would like to honor students, faculty & staff for excellence within the Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business. Each month, starting in January, SLC will recognize an outstanding student, faculty, or staff member within the College of Entertainment and Music Business as the
Belmont Billboard's "Superstar of the Month". You have the opportunity to nominate someone who has greatly influenced your life, education, or has accomplished something outstanding within the Curb College by emailing SLC at SLCnominations@gmail.com with reasons why they should be honored (please include their contact information). The winner for each month will receive a prize and will be honored with theirown special

Showcase Series Production Staff Applications

Are you interested in the Showcase Series production? If so, please download the appropriate application and return your completed application to Ms. Sarah Cates in the Office of the Dean (Curb Event Center, Mezzanine level) by March 30th at 4pm.

Producer
This person will report directly to the CEMB Dean’s office and will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing all aspects of the productions. Job duties would include:
o Selecting associate producer and production assistants
o Overseeing all elements of production
o Creating a vision
o Leading/Coordinating production meetings
o Creating a marketing plan
o Seeking sponsors
o Creating a budget
o Keeping budget records
Criteria:
o Must maintain a 2.8 GPA
o Must be a full time CEMB major
o Must have showcase experience

Associate Producer: Chosen by Producer
Job Duties include:
o Assists Producer in all duties (see above)
Criteria:
o Must maintain a 2.8 GPA
o Must be a full time CEMB major
o Must have showcase experience

Production Manager
This person would report directly to the show producer and would be in charge of the coordination and management of the production for the assigned showcase. Job duties would include:
o Creating and distributing the production schedule
o Working with vendors on logistics and scheduling
o Coordinating staging needs with the Curb Event Center
o Collecting and distributing input and stage plot information from the acts
o Coordinating and managing stagehands for the load in, performance, and load out
Criteria:
o Must have and maintain a 2.8 GPA
o Must be a full time AET or MB production major
o Must have completed with a C or better one of the following courses:
o AET 4590 Tour Production
o AET 3560 Sound Reinforcement

Lighting Designer/Director
This person would report to both the Show Producer and the Production Manager and would be in charge of the design and direction of the assigned showcase lighting system. Job duties would include:
o Design of the show lighting system within the set equipment and budget parameters
o Active participation in the load in and load out of the lighting system
o Communication with the lighting vendor in regards to gear and logistics
o Providing input for other creative (set) elements of the show
o Programming and operation of the lighting system
o Providing direction for the spotlight operator
Criteria:
o Must have and maintain a 2.8 GPA
o Must have completed with a C or better or currently enrolled in:
o AET 4590 Tour Production
