SUMMER INTERNSHIPS

If you are registered this SUMMER for an Internship and have not yet turned in the company and student contracts, please do so by Friday, June 6th! If you do not turn them in by Friday, this will automatically result in a failing grade for your summer internship as they were due May 26th. Please contact Tina Dishman (dishmant@mail.belmont.edu) for more questions regarding these forms and this deadline.

Internship Registration

Internships: If you are going to complete an internship SU08 or FA08 and you have all the prerequisites, you can go on Classfinder and register for the Internship as you would other classes. If it doesn't let you register, and you feel you have all the prerequisites, you will need to complete an Override Request, which is found on the door of the Office of Internships & Career Development. DO NOT BEGIN AN INTERNSHIP WITHOUT CONFIRMATION FROM THE COORDINATOR. CONFIRMATION WILL INCLUDE A SYLLABUS & THE AGREEMENT FORMS.

Internship Fair

Students, Do you have a total of 64 semester hours or more and a GPA of 2.8? Do you know what the other PRE-requisites are for completing an Internship for credit? Did you know that it is illegal to intern without being paid or without receiving credit? To find out all that information and more, go to forum.belmont.edu/muzzbuzz; then click on Advising; then click on Internships.

This site will also have a list of companies who have confirmed that they will be attending the Internship Fair.

Be ready to dazzle the companies with your personality and charm!... as well as your skills and abilities, and don’t forget to bring Résumé's for the companies that you are interested in. Research the companies through Career Connector or on their website. It’s important that you know something about their company. It will make a difference.

Graduating Seniors: Time to tweak that Résumé . call or email to set up an appointment! Career Day: College of Business Administration, Wednesday, March 5 from 10 - 1230, Neely Dining. Businesses will be recruiting! Could be that job you didn't consider!

Internship Fair: April 2 from 10 - 2, Maddox Grand Atrium, have your Résumé's ready and be prepared to answer those interview questions: Tell me about yourself, What are your strengths?, and all the rest!

Internship Poster Presentations plus special guest: April 21 from 9 - 12, Neely/Black & White.

Spring Internship Info

SPRING 2008 Internship Information
In order to receive credit for an internship, you must complete an Application to Intern through the CEMB Internship Office. Once you turn that form in, Anita O'Dell check to make sure you have the pre-requisites and then give
you an override. You will receive an email if you've been approved at which point you will need to go into BIC
and register.

SPRING 2008 Internship LAB Information
If you were unable to register for the Lab, Anita O'Dell will contact you when the issue has been resolved.

Internship Events

Poster Party
Monday, November 26, 12–5pm, Neely Dining Hall
This is a come and go event and will have amazing displays created by CEMB students who have interned in the Industry. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to come through and see what students are saying about their internships.

Internship Presentations
Tuesday, November 27, 2 -3pm; Wednesday, November 28, 3 – 4pm; and Thursday, November 29, 2 – 3pm
Massey Computer Lab, Room 305
This is another opportunity to hear from students (not the same ones as at the Poster Party!) about their internships.

Students will present information about their company, how it started, who the major players are, what the good, the bad and the ugly parts were, what they gained from it, what they wish they had known prior to going, and what classes helped them to attain success at their company.

*****INTERNSHIP FAIR
Be prepared!!!! Monday, October 29...Oh, that's next Monday...The Maddox Grand Atrium will be all abuzz with 90 Entertainment & Music (including Audio Engineering) Industry representatives. Come early and beat the rush! The Fair is from 9 a.m. - 12 noon. Dress up and bring a well-prepared Résumé (a cover letter would be an excellent idea too!)!
*****FINAL PROJECTS FOR THOSE COMPLETING INTERNSHIPS THIS SEMESTER, THE FINAL PROJECTS WILL BE NOVEMBER 26 & 27 RATHER THAN NOVEMBER 19 & 20. MORE INFO TO FOLLOW!

FOR THOSE LOOKING TO COMPLETE AN INTERNSHIP ...ATTENDING THE FINAL PROJECTS OF THOSE COMPLETING INTERNSHIPS THIS SEMESTER WOULD BE A GREAT WAY TO FIND OUT THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY ABOUT INTERNSHIPS IN THE AREA. THOSE DATES ARE NOVEMBER 26 & 27. MORE INFO TO FOLLOW!

internship. Even if you have not chosen an internship site, it is best to go ahead and complete the application so you can register for it.

Internship Reminders

Internship Lab: If you plan on interning, you must take the Internship Lab. It's offered as a pre and/or a co-req for the 2007 Summer and Fall semesters only. Beginning Spring 2008, it will be a pre-req, so if you're wanting to complete an internship in the Spring, take the Lab this summer or fall.
